Commitment to Criminal Justice Scholarships
At Leverson Budke, we are dedicated to giving back to communities throughout the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota. We recognize that many individuals helped us make this law firm a reality, and we can think of no better way to thank them than by paying it forward and providing assistance to the next generation of individuals ready to help shape our communities. To that end, we are pleased to offer two $500.00 scholarships to two exceptional individuals. Please see below for details.
Annual Leverson Budke Scholarship Essay Contest
High School Seniors Entering College
This one-time $500 scholarship will be awarded to one high school senior annually who wishes to further their education in order to contribute to efforts designed to further public interest organizations, civic engagement, criminal justice reform, or other community improvement causes.
Interested applicants should submit a 1-3 page letter identifying a significant economic, legal, or social issue facing Americans; and discuss ways in which these issues might be addressed. Applicants should feel free to also discuss any prior or current involvement in community engagement as well as any plans to continue engaging in community activism.
Undergraduate Students Entering Law School
This one-time $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to one applicant entering law school who wishes to further their education in order to contribute to efforts designed to further public interest organizations, civic engagement, criminal justice reform, or other community improvement causes.Interested applicants should submit a 1-3 page letter identifying a significant economic, legal, or social issue facing Americans; and discuss ways in which these issues might be addressed. Applicants should feel free to also discuss any prior or current involvement in community engagement as well as any plans to continue engaging in community activism.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be accepted for admission to a United States College, University, or Law School.
- Entries must be 100% original and written solely by the applicant
- Applicant must include email address, phone number, and home address.
- Applicant must submit the name of their current school and the name of the college to which they have been accepted.
- Each applicant is allowed to submit only one entry.
How to Apply?
Submit your application and essay by email to skbudke@leversonbudke.com and nrleverson@leversonbudke.com prior to the August 1st 2018 deadline. The Leverson Budke Scholarship selection committee will review all scholarship essay submissions received by the August 1st 2018. The two recipients will be selected and awarded the scholarships by September 1st 2018. Exceptional entries may be published on the Leverson Budke blog.
